An email to the new Rachel Maddow Show

It's so embarrassing to email TV shows...but I do think Rachel Maddow is important, so here's the goofy email I sent her show:

My Email:
Oh Rachel, you're magically delicious!

Just want to share w/ you how pleased I am that I can finally get a regular fix of Maddow.  Up to now, I've only been able to hear you on Air America, but as the only AM radio in my life is in my car...and the Air America reception here in Santa Monica sucks...up to now I could only get a hit of you in fits and starts.  I was starting to become like a Vegas junkie addicted to intermittent reward.

I'm a fan because of the unique combination you have of three things that I value: one, hate to say it cause I try to hard to be neutral, but I do love the fact that you have a bias towards the good of the overall human condition, and therefore have no qualms about taking on people and policies that compromise this, but try to position themselves as something else (this is my way of not calling myself a liberal).

Second, you have that lightning quick mind that can pull up relevant details in an instant to cut through clouds of pomp and puffery, but you deliver that genius with a lingo that's fresh and accessible and, at least to me, doesn't come across as divisive.

And third, that charming, sunny personality!  I was talking about you to one of my diehard Republican friends yesterday and found myself saying "She's like a sparkly pixie!"  (sorry about that).  But your cheerful nature does provide a very calming note in the cacophony of partisan diatribes, and it does make your show much easier to watch and pay attention to than many others.

SO, if you don't mind, please take into consideration my two fantasies for things you'll add to the show:

First, let me compliment you on having Pat Buchanan on.  I saw you together for the first time during the conventions and right away found the exchanges between you two the most informative parts of the commentaries (got to fast forwarding to those after a few days...).  Thanks for bringing that into your show.  I think Pat does a great job of representing his side of the arguments so the exchanges between you two are actually useful.

In that spirit, may I please request that you also engage with Tucker Carlson?  I haven't actually seen Tucker until just recently, but I find his commentary on the interests of the right far more salient than a lot of the other people the cable shows bring on for that purpose.  Even before your show I dreamed of watching you two face off.  I think it's a match made in heaven.  So what's Tucker doing these days?  Would you schedule him in for some regular exchanges on campaign activities?  Maybe for some of the Talk Me Down segments?

Second, I would love it if you could somehow add to your show segments from the fantastic team over at On The Media from WNYC radio.  I trust you've heard this great show.  I think it's one of the best programs on media ever created.  I'd love to see the fascinating stories they cover discussed more, and I think you would be the perfect person to explore those stories with the show's great hosts.

Hope my requests make into an intern's in box for tracking viewer requests.

Congrats on the show and have a helluva fun time for the next two months.

Yours,
Betty
